Mask Narrative Activity

Mask Narrative: DWB Activity

Respond to the following prompts in your DWB

1. Why do people present themselves differently to the world when they may feel something else inside?

2. Write a story about the theme of masking emotion.
Example: write a story about what would happen if you didn’t mask your emotions during an important life event. Or you could write about what would happen if you were to convey an inappropriate emotion during an important event. Another option is to write a story that contains the internal dialogue of a character compared to their presented external façade; perhaps what the character is feeling is very different from how they present themselves in an important situation.

You may want to write your story about how one side of the mask you created was presented in the setting from the opposite side of your mask.

Requirements:
1 – 2 Pages typed (300 – 500 words)
Address the theme of emotional masks/facades
Display proper spelling and grammar
Characters
Plot
Introduction/Climax/Conclusion

3. If time allows, find a partner or two and take turns reading your stories to each other. Give each other verbal feedback on each other’s stories:
Was the story interesting? Did it seem original? What was the best part? What issues may have been present?
